The New Southerner is the personal brand of Designer and Photographer, Christine Taylor. A native Californian with a lifelong zest for food, travel, and art, Christine and her family moved to Beaumont, TX in 2016 where they lived for five years. Originating as an Instagram account to record her adventures, The New Southerner later became the namesake of a boutique bakery and catering company that served Beaumont's social butterflies.

Christine introduced her clients to a new culinary experience that combined California freshness with the heart and soul of the South. She became known for her exquisitely adorned Charcuterie Boards, savory Spiced Pecans, and her delicious recipe for the southern favorite, Pimento Cheese.

Following a brief return to California, Christine and her family returned to the South, bringing with her a celebration of Southern style, culture, and tradition. Drawing inspiration from the kitchen and garden, Christine creates artfully designed experiences for intimate gatherings, weddings, and private events.

Christine resides in Knoxville, TN with her kids, Gannon and Finnley, and their precious Toy Poodle, Molly Mae.

A Note from Christine ...

I’ve always enjoyed using my hands to add beauty to my life. My mother was a traditionalist who taught me how to crochet, knit, and sew at a very young age. She also taught me how to bake and by age ten I was making her favorite German Apple Cake. My inherent appreciation for the domestic role came from observing my mother care for her four children and putting her signature touch on every birthday and holiday we celebrated. My mother showed me how to add beauty to the ordinary, purely out of love. During my teenage years, I learned to take photographs and later honed my skills as a wedding photographer. Today, I still use film to capture beautiful imagery of my family, my garden, and my kitchen.

At twenty-four I married and later had two children. My family became the center of my world and over the years we’ve travelled to many places where I have found inspiration in the way food invites celebration and community. One place that continues calling me back is the South. Steeped in tradition, the South has taught me about hospitality and the graciousness which entertainment is based upon.

No matter where I live, I will always be The New Southerner and The New Southerner will always be me. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating a place so dear to my heart.
